Desjardins Jewelers of Rutland was established in 1935, however the story begins in the 350 years prior. In 1638 Louis XIV declared Aime Jardins, designer and fashioner of the magnificent Crown Jewels of France, “the finest jeweler in the world”. It was at this time the name Jardins became Desjardins- the prefix “Des” being an honorary title bestowed on this gifted and talented jeweler by his monarch, and for generations following, the DESJARDINS family was known and publicized as “THE JEWELERS OF THE ROYAL FAMILY”.
